Lifestyle Couple Shoot in Central Delhi | Victor & Laura

Fun Street Style Shoot for American Tourist Couple in Connaught Place, Central Delhi

Earlier this year, American couple Vic & Laura Sonnino decided to visit India for a few weeks. Even though they had travelled extensively around the world, this was their first trip to India. To save themselves the hassle of planning, organising and worrying about safety, they decided to go with a group tour that took care of everything. From sightseeing to meals and transport, everything was done for them.

We think that’s why they decided to look us up! While everything about their trip was in cookie-cutter format, they wanted to have a few fun, unscripted photographs of their time in India. They wrote to us asking if we would be willing to shoot them together for an hour or so at a convenient time. It was a slightly unusual assignment for us but we were intrigued. Having orchestrated many a pre-wedding couple shoot, we consider ourselves to be great with couples. Sure, this happily married couple was a few decades above our usual age range and prior comfort zone. But I think that was half the fun of it.

We agreed to take their photos and our brief was this: they wanted candid/unscripted photos of themselves, enjoying their trip to India. They wrote that they liked open spaces, markets and the colours of India. Since they were staying at a hotel in Central Delhi, very close to Connaught Place, we decided that Inner Circle in CP would make a great space for the photos. We hoped to throw in some shots at Central Park & get the majestic flag in the background for the sun-downer shots. But it was just our luck that that very day was the one chosen to bring the flag down for cleaning and maintenance. Nevertheless, we walked around the Inner Circle, took plenty of photos, interacted with some local vendors, treated the couple to the original Keventers’ milkshakes and Wengers’ patties. We even managed to end up at Central Park for some more photos. All in all, it was a fabulous evening spent with the lovely couple.

Here are a couple of our favourites from that evening.

It was an unusual but fun shoot for us. We didn’t know quite what to expect when we actually met the Sonninos, but I bet neither did they! Fortunately for us, they loved the photos.

We hope you like them too! Leave us a comment and tell us what you think.
