A destination wedding in ITC Grand Bharat you say? But, dear Twogether, aren’t you based in Delhi? Well – yes and no! Diksha and Anuj live in Mumbai and wanted to get married away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and loved the ITC Grand Bharat the moment they saw it. So what was a destination wedding for them was a city wedding for us!
The first time we met Anuj and Diksha, we were struck by the particular blend of humour, chemistry and deep love they shared for each other. With a wicked sense of humour and an absolute poker face, Anuj had us in splits right away (and that’s probably how he convinced Diksha to marry him too!). Here’s a short photo story on their destination wedding at the ITC Grand Bharat, New Delhi.
Pre-Wedding
Surrounded by the western ghats and lakes, we travelled all the way to Lonavla in Maharashtra to spend sometime with the couple away from the pollution and the noise. While the sky was many shades of yellows, our couple was all shades of love.
Their Mehendi at home in Mumbai
A day before everyone left for the ITC Grand Bharat, Gurgaon, they had a quiet Mehendi at home amongst family and friends. A morning filled with joy and excitement, the families headed to Delhi for their grand wedding right after.
Mehendi
Full of drama, music and warmth, the winter morning in the ITC Grand Bharat, Gurgaon didn’t feel quite as cold. An afternoon spent with family and friends, a lot of dancing and an entry on a bright yellow vespa, this event was a great way to kickstart the proceedings.
Cocktail
An evening filled with dancing and celebration, the night was spent partying with The Unplugged Project (who as always kept everyone on their toes) and DJ Chetas (who did the same) – we laughed, partied and danced the night away with the wedding party till everyone was ready to drop.
Garden Party
The next morning saw everyone reaching for their hangover kits (if you’ve been to an Indian wedding, you know what we mean!). With just a few hours of sleep between them, Anuj and Diksha were back with a bang to wake everyone up again!
Shaam Shaandaar (Sangeet)
A thousand lights would fall short of lighting up a place, but our couple did it better than the lights. Amidst all the madness, the ring ceremony followed by an electric performance by the evergreen Sukhvinder on a cold February wedding had everyone staying warm by keeping their dancing shoes on all night!
Haldi
After clocking in two straight nights of fun and all night dances, everyone still managed to wake up and look wide awake (look how fresh they look!) for the fun Haldi morning.
Baraat
Okay, we’ve all heard of the Groom’s baarat right – but Anuj and Diksha had not one, but TWO baarats going on at the same time. Not to be left behind. Diksha was all about horsepower and came in on a red Ferrari while Anuj stuck to a ghodi-Chariot.
